Melissa Smith graduated from Dover Area High School in 1997 and continued her education to earn both a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (Grades K-6) and a master’s degree in Educational Instruction and Curriculum Design from Penn State University.

 

Melissa started her educational career working in the West York Area School District as an elementary school teacher. Over her ten years of service in the West York Area School District, Melissa taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at both Trimmer and Lincolnway Elementary Schools.

 

With having young children of her own and experience in education, Melissa identified an increasing need for additional high-quality childcare and early learning centers in the Dover/West York geographical area.

 

Melissa had always had a passion for working with young children and families, and she decided she was ready to channel her enthusiasm and years of experience into a project that would also help support her community.

 

Then pregnant with her third child, Melissa decided to embark on a new journey, one which moved her focus from the elementary level to the early learning level! Using her years of schooling and expertise, she decided in 2012 to resign from teaching elementary school to embark on her new adventure - designing and building a high-quality childcare and early learning center for families in her immediate area.
